Rental Unit Summer Safety Tips

As temperatures begin to peak and summer nights start to get longer, the desire to stay out later enjoying a fire pit or chiminea can be very tempting.

RPI tenants are not permitted to have any source of open flame at any time. This includes but is not limited to: fire pits, chimineas, campfires, brick fire pits, outdoor fireplaces, fire pit tables, and fire pit grills.

Tenants are permitted to have grills on their properties. All grills must be AT LEAST 5ft from all other structures. This includes but is not limited to: your rental, your neighbors house, all decks, sheds, garages and car-ports.

As a reminder, it is important to replace the batteries in your smoke detectors twice a year, which can easily be synchronized with daylight savings (March 13, 2016 and November 6, 2016).

Smoke detectors should be located on every floor of your household, with an extra detector in each bedroom. Ensure that every member of your household knows your fire escape plan.

Please feel free to contact us if you have any further questions.
